Garden Eye privacy

On-device image processing, location, and local scan storage in Garden Eye’s current development version.

Scope and provider

Garden Eye is a first-party app developed by David Pfeffer through ByteNik Solutions LLC. This notice describes the current development version. It will be updated if a release changes these practices.

Location and camera access

Garden Eye uses latitude and longitude to calculate the sun’s path. You can enter coordinates manually or request device location. Camera access is used to capture a scan of the sky and nearby obstructions.

On-device analysis

In the current version, camera images are processed locally on your device using an image-segmentation model. The app does not upload camera frames to an app server for that analysis.

The model must be downloaded from an external model host before analysis can run. The host receives normal network request information, such as your IP address. Downloading the model does not send it your camera frames.

Saved scans and deletion

Saved scans and recovery data are kept in local browser storage on the device. Clearing Garden Eye’s browser site data removes that local data. There is no account-based cloud sync in the current development version.

Exports and support

You can explicitly export scan information for your own use or troubleshooting. Exported files are under your control. If you send files or a support message to us, the information you share is used to investigate and respond to that request. Consider whether a scan shows details you prefer not to share.
