Dark Sky Clock

A clearer view of the hours worth spending under the stars.

Web app available · mobile apps in development

Find your next window for stargazing

Dark Sky Clock brings cloud cover, twilight, moonlight, and observing conditions into one hourly view. Choose a location, look ahead, and see when the sky is worth a closer look.

The chart keeps the overnight forecast together and can collapse daytime hours, so the useful part of the night is easier to compare. Astronomy calculations and global forecasts make it useful beyond a single region.

Built around the observing decision

  • See clouds, darkness, and moonlight along the same timeline.
  • Compare upcoming nights for a location you choose.
  • Use regional seeing, transparency, and smoke data where available.
  • Recognize unavailable data instead of treating it as a favorable forecast.

Forecasts are estimates, and regional data coverage varies. Dark Sky Clock helps you plan an evening; conditions at your observing site can still change.

Available on the web

The web app is available now. Native iOS and Android versions are in development. Store links will appear here when those versions are released.

This project combines weather data, astronomical calculations, and a compact interface for a practical question: when should I go outside and look up?
